Poznañ, An Pholainn - Léachtóir le Nua-Ghaeilge á lorg

Tá sé seo istigh ó Ghearóid Ó hAnnaidh i Lucsambourg.  Go raibh maith agat, a Ghearóid!

Is mian le Roinn an Léinn Cheiltigh, Ollscoil Adam Mickiewicz, Poznañ, An Pholainn, léachtóir Gaeilge a cheapadh don bhliain acadúil 2008-2009 dar tús an 1ú Deireadh Fómhair. Seo conradh a bhféadfaí síneadh a chur leis. Is é teagasc na Nua-Ghaeilge an príomhchúram a bheas ar an té a cheapfar, agus is ar Ghaeilge na Gaeltachta a bheas an bhéim. Ba mhór an cúnamh eolas cruinn ar an dara teanga Cheilteach a bheith ag na hiarrthóirí, agus níor bheag an buntáiste dóibh cur amach a bheith acu ar ghnéithe den stair agus den litríocht. Más mian leat tuilleadh eolais a fháil faoin bpost spéisiúiil seo, cuir scéal chuig an Ollamh Diarmuid Johnson ar diarmuidj@ifa.amu.edu.pl nó chuig an Ollamh Sabine Heinz sabine@ifa.amu.edu.pl.

É seo ó Mháire Mhic an Phríora i mBaile Átha Cliath.  Go raibh maith agat, a Mháire!

Tá leagan leictreonach de Foclóir Gaeilge-Béarla Uí Dhónaill ar fáil anois: WinGléacht. Tá na ceannfhocail go léir san fhoclóir agus nótaí gramadaí ag baint leo. Deireann ár gcairde go bhfuil sé ar fheabhas.  An-áisiúil é a bheith ar an ríomhaire agus gan iallach orainn a bheith ag cuardach leabhair chun an focal cuí a aimsiú!  Ach níl sé saor in aisce.  Tá sé ar fáil i siopaí Gaeilge agus gnáthphraghas de thimpeall €25.00 air.  Téigh go dtí WinGléacht Uí Dhónaill chun breis eolais a fháil.

This comes to us from Máire Mhic an Phríora in Dublin.  Thank you, Máire!

An electronic version of Ó Dónaill's Irish-English Dictionary is now available: WinGléacht. All the headwords are available and the grammar related to them.  Our friends say this is excellent.  It's very convenient to be on the computer and not compelled to go searching through a book to find the right answer!  But it's not free.  It's available in Irish language shops with a typical price of about €25.00.  Go to WinGléacht Uí Dhónaill for more information.

Ceachtanna Gaeilge ar fhís, ar líne, agus saor in aisce ó Ollscoil na hÉireann, Má Nuad

Tá sé seo istigh ó Shanti Hofshi i San Diego agus ó Mháire Mhic an Phríora i mBÁC.  Buíochas libh, a chairde!

"Chonaic mé an nasc a leanas san Irish Times....  Tá ceachtanna Gaeilge ar shuíomh Ollscoil na hÉireann, Má Nuad bunaithe ar chláir nuachta ó TG4.  I ngach ceacht, tá tuairisc nuachta le feiceáil agus ceisteanna le freagairt ar an tuairisc.  Bíonn na ceachtanna ag trí leibhéil...  Ag deireadh gach ceachta bíonn téacs an scéil scríofa amach (i nGaeilge amháin).  Ceapaim gur féidir libh an-fheidhm a bhaint as an áis nua seo chun bhur gcuid Gaeilge a fheabhsú."  Féach ar Má Nuad

Irish language lessons on video, on line, and free from University of Ireland, Maynooth

This report is in from Shanti Hofshi in San Diego and Máire Mhic an Phríora in Dublin.  Thank you both, a chairde!

"I saw the following link in this month's Irish Times.  There are Irish language lessons on the website of the University of Ireland, Maynooth, based on news programs from TG4.  In every lesson, there is a news report to watch and questions to answer about the report. The lessons are at three levels... At the end of each lesson the text of the story is written out (in Irish only). I think that you can make great use of this new resource in order to improve your Irish."  See Maynooth .

Léirmheas:  Féin-teagasc go hÉasca Péasca ar líne
Tá  a lán suíomh ar an idirlíon anois ag tabhairt cabhrach d'fhoghlaimeoirí.  Is ceann acu é Éasca Péasca.  Bíonn a dhéanmhas soiléir agus furasta a leanúint.  Bíonn a chomhaid fuaime glan agus so-chloiste.  Aon am nach n-oibríonn cnap "Seinn/Play," is féidir leat an comhad a íoslódáil chuig do ríomhaire chun é a chloisteáil ar aon chuma ar do thoil.  I mo bharúil féin, áfach, sílim go bhfuil an suíomh oiriúnach do mheánfhoghlaimeoirí agus daoine ag teacht ar ais chuig an teanga, ach nach bhfuil sé oiriúnach d'fhoghlaimeoirí den bhunleibhéal.  Leis sin ráite, sílim gur uirlis den scoth é.  Chun úsáid a bhaint as an suíomh seo, téigh go dtí Éasca Péasca.

Review:  Easy Peasy Self-Teaching on-line
There are lots of websites now on the internet giving help to beginners.  Éasca Péasca ('Easy Peasy') is one of them.  Its structure is completely clear and easy to follow.  Its sound files are clean and easy to hear.  Any time that a "Play" button doesn't work, you can download the file to your computer to hear it anyway whenever you want.   In my own opinion, however, I think that the site is suitable for intermediate learners and people who are coming back to the language, but it is not suitable for learners who are at the beginning level.  With that said, I think that this is an excellent tool.  To use this website, go to   Éasca Péasca.

Focal ó An Gael

Mura bhfuil an Ghaeilge maith go leor do Aer Lingus, an bhfuil tusa maith go leor do Aer Lingus?

Tuairiscíonn ár mBall Meithle Daithí Mac Lochlainn (agus a lán eile) dúinn go bhfuil Aer Lingus ag diúltú feidhm a  bhaint as an nGaeilge ar a mbealach nua ó Londain go Béal Feirste.  Mura bhfuil an Ghaeilge maith go leor do Bhéal Feirste, an bhfuil sí maith go leor do Bhaile Átha Cliath?  Agus mura bhfuil an Ghaeilge maith go leor dóibh, an bhfuil sliocht Éireannach ar fud na cruinne maith go leor mar chustaiméirí don chomhlacht seo?  B'fhéidir nach bhfuilimid uasal go leor dóibh.  Cad a smaoiníonn tusa?

Is féidir leat an achainí a shíniú ag Gaeilge ar Aer Lingus, nó ceannaigh scair nó dó agus inis dóibh go díreach cad a smaoiníonn tú ag

A Word from An Gael

If the Irish Language isn't good enough for Aer Lingus, are you good enough for Aer Lingus?

Our Meitheal Member Daithí Mac Lochlainn (and many others) report to us that Ireland's national airline, Aer Lingus, is refusing to use the Irish language on their new London to Belfast route.  If Irish isn't good enough for Aer Lingus in Belfast, is it good enough for Aer Lingus in Dublin?  And if the Irish language isn't good enough for Aer Lingus, are Irish people and people of Irish descent around the world good enough to be customers of this company?  Maybe we're just not up to their standards.  What do you think?

You can sign the petition at The Irish Language on Aer Lingus, or buy a share or two and tell them directly what you think at
